Brief Description
- Must be registered or eligible to be a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and possess a minimum of an eighth grade education
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action as well as patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
- Participate in the day-to-day function and care of residents as well as function along side other nurses in accordance to the organization and local health regulations

Position functions & Requirements
CNA Administrative Functions
- Record all entries on ADL records
- Report all accidents and incidents
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Charge Nurse
Admission, Transfer & Discharge
- Ensure that resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident
- Inventory and mark resident’s personal possessions
- Assist residents with loading/unloading as necessary
Personnel Functions
- Follow work assignments and/or work schedules
- Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident
- Meet with Charge Nurse regularly
Personal Nursing Care Functions
- Assist or provide residents with dressing/undressing as necessary
- Assist or provide residents with hair care functions
- Make beds
- Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments, activity and social programs
- Provide post-mortem care, as instructed
- Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations and blood pressures as instructed
- Check residents routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met
Special Nursing Care Functions
- Provide daily indwelling catheter care
- Provide daily perineal care
- Provide daily range of motion exercises, record data as instructed
- Turn bedfast residents at least every two hours
- Participate and follow established policies and procedures for special programs
Education
- Must possess, as a minimum, an eighth grade education
Experience
- Must be registered or eligible to be a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Specific Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Must posses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
